DownStage Center Classes
Spring 2013

DSC Classes

In addition to developing theatre arts skills, DSC classes can help you develop your ability to speak up in school, increase the creativity going into your homework and improve your classroom presentations. It is documented that having the arts in our lives makes us better students in general!

June Recital

In the Spring, all DSC classes shift to a rehearsal focus to prepare for our June Recital. You can have a full production experience, complete with costumes, lighting, and a stage performance, but class is still only once a week! Keep checking the website for more information.

DSC Classes Schedule
Imagination Station (Ages 5–8)
  • Feb 19–June 11
  • Tuesdays 4:30–5:30pm
  • $180
  • Closed

Children learn by playing, so we use the innate imaginative capabilities of this age to learn through creative play. Your child will study life skills as theatre skills. Children will practice active listening, following directions, and taking turns, BUT DON'T TELL THEM. They'll think we're just playing games, singing songs, and making up stories.

Studio with Kathleen (Ages 11 and up)
  • Feb 20–June 12
  • Wednesdays 4:30–6pm
  • $270
  • Closed

One of the most important things you can learn as an artist is to create your own work. In Studio, you will learn to do just that. We will use improvisation to create characters and scenes, then combine them with popular songs to create an original script. Be a part of developing a musical that is new, fresh and topical.

Improvisation (Ages 9 and up)
  • February 22–June 14
  • Fridays 4:30–6pm
  • $270
  • Closed

Improvisation is an essential theatre skills for actors. Learn to think on your feet, be creative on demand and finally get the respect your deserve for being the class clown!
