DownStage Center
Winter/Spring Classes 2012

In addition to developing theatre arts skills, DSC classes can help you develop your ability to speak up in school, increase the creativity going into your homework and improve your classroom presentations. It is documented that having the arts in our lives makes us better students in general! In the Spring, all DSC classes shift to a rehearsal focus to prepare for our June Recital. A full production experience, complete with costumes, lighting, and a stage performance, but class is still only once a week!

Imagination Station (Ages 5-8)
  • Feb 28-June 12
  • Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm
  • $165
  • Register

Children learn by playing, so we use the innate imaginative capabilities of this age to learn through creative play. Your child will study life skills as theatre skills. Children will practice active listening, learn to follow directions, and take turns as they perform stories and songs. (No class 3/27, 4/10)

Improvisation (Ages 9 and up)
  • March 2-June 15
  • Fridays 4:30-6pm
  • $260
  • Register

Improvisation is your key to discovering how to make the physical and vocal choices necessary to develop a show stopping character. You will learn essential theatre skills—projecting the voice, "cheating out," and creating stage pictures—all while playing theatre games! (No class 3/30, 4/13)

Glee (Ages 11 and up)
  • Feb 29-June 13
  • Wednesdays 4:30-6pm
  • $260
  • Register

You've been watching it on TV, now it's your time to shine! Take this opportunity to work on popular songs, learn to sing harmony, tackle some "choralography," and show your glee! (No class 3/28, 4/11)

RECITAL JUNE 10TH: In the Spring, all DSC classes shift to a rehearsal focus to prepare for our June Recital. You can have a full production experience, complete with costumes, lighting, and a stage performance, but class is still only once a week! The Recital is scheduled for June 10, 2012.

SPRING BREAK CAMP
Sleeping Beauty Goes Into the Woods! (Ages 7-15)
  • April 9-13
  • Daily 10am-1pm
  • $180
  • Register

Want to be a triple threat? Then you want to be a Hi-Liner! If you love Musical Theatre, you probably love the music and characters from Sleeping Beauty and Into the Woods. What better way to learn the essential skills to help you get cast in your next audition than singing, dancing and acting your way through some of Broadway's most popular titles? And all the characters—Beauty, Prince Charming, Maleficent, Cinderella, Jack and Little Red Riding Hood, will strut their stuff in a performance at the end of the week!
