Did You Know?
- Since 1994, The Hi-Liners have educated nearly 1500 young people and entertained nearly 70,000 people.
- The organization is funded from ticket sales, tuitions and donations from a variety of sources, in that order.
The Hi-Liners is independent and has received no financial or material support from the Highline School District since 1987.
- We strive to offer local young people a highly professional theatrical experience while maintaining one of the lowest
tuitions of any youth theater in the Seattle area.
- No young person is ever turned away over an inability to pay the tuition. The Hi-Liners believe participation is
more important than payment.
- The Hi-Liners average MainStage production costs exceed $75,000. Student tuition covers about $15,000 of our
overall costs.
- The Hi-Liners pay market rates for the Highline Performing Arts Center, the cost of which averages approximately
$13,000 per production.
- Royalties and rental fees for the owners of the performance rights are paid in full up front and average $6,500 per
production.
- The Hi-Liners is one of the very few theatre groups in the Seattle metropolitan area (and country) that ends up each
fiscal year with a positive cash flow, and, more importantly, zero debt.
- During each major production approximately 100 people volunteer from 2 to 20 hours each, to help build sets, sell
tickets, work the concession stand, style hair, wash costumes, etc. Without our volunteers, there would be no production!
- 2005 marked the first time The Hi-Liners held a formal fundraising event. We thank the Highline Times for hosting the
evening, as well as all the individuals who contributed to our cause, and the PEMCO Foundation for their generous matching gift.
