Is This For You?

You have begun your exploration of singing, dancing and acting. Now you're ready for the next step. Are you inspired by the prospect of diving deeply into a musical in a way that is impossible during a regular rehearsal process? Over a yearlong process, the students will take on production positions, (i.e., directing, choreographing and design) as well as acting roles, in a small cast musical. The production created by this class will be a part of the 2019 season, culminating in a weekend of performances for the public.

Acting

Expand your understanding of text analysis to grasp the arc of a character. Step beyond the rudimentary requirements of being loud and exaggerated. Pulling from the work of theatre masters Stanislavski and Uta Hagen, this class will require you to make sense of the text, access your emotions, and create naturalistic, three-dimensional characters on stage.

Singing

Work with a musical director who is also a vocal coach. This means that personal strengths can be enhanced, while vocal challenges are addressed on a one on one basis. Improve tone, increase vocal strength and enhance your range.

Dancing

Performing a small cast musical means more personal attention to dance technique during rehearsal. Additionally, students enrolled in a Hi-liners dance class will receive a $100 discount on the Academy class.

But wait, there's more...

Production

Students will be required to take on production team responsibilities. Expand your knowledge of theatre to include new roles like directing, choreographing, costuming, properties, set and lighting design. Market your show, oversee the budget, and participate in production meetings.
